Senior C Ladies snatch a draw in opener vs St. Nathy’s, Ballaghaderreen
A pressure free by Katie Mc Nulty, in the 5th minute of injury time earned Ballinamore CS a draw in there season opener in Ballaghaderreen school pitch on Tuesday, 20th September.
Ballinamore had the advantage of a strong wind in the first half and went in 3 points ahead at half time, playing very good open football.
In the second half St. Nathy’s whittled away at the lead and despite very strong defending from Ballinamore, the opposition got a late point 3 minutes into injury time. One last surge by Ballinamore saw a foul on Emma Mc Govern which Katie Mc Nulty cooly converted to cap off a superb performance.
Ballinamore now face Carrick CS in their second of 4 group games in 2 weeks time. In a game Ballinamore should have won on their missed chances alone, we did well to etch out a draw in a tough, competitive opener.
Final score: 3:9 to 3:9

Maeve Hamill 1:0
Emma Mc Govern 0:3

Green Schools School Habitat Survey 16/09/16
On Friday 16th September, third year Geography class along with their teacher, Mr. Mullen completed a Habitat Survey of the school grounds. The class was split into 5 groups and walked the school grounds twice and mapped out specific areas of biodiversity. They used plant identification books to establish the various species as well as pooters and insect nets to trap insects for identification purposes.
Each group will submit a completed Survey and there is a prize for the best one which will be displayed on the Green School’s noticeboard. This project is part of our ongoing work to achieve our 5th Green Flag for Biodiversity, which will be judged by March 2016. A number of other initiatives are ongoing throughout the school by the other Coordinators, Ms. Cooney and MS. Colum. Below are some pics. of the event.
