Huge congratulations to our juvenile boys’ football team, who were recently crowned Champions of Connacht after what can only be described as a nail-biting final against a very strong team from Ballyhaunis.
The game was tightly contested in normal time, with Shane McGirl scoring a late goal to force extra time. Again, it was touch-and-go, with Ballinamore trailing by a point heading into the final moments of extra time, before Shane once again drew us level to force a penalty shootout.
The shootout went all the way to sudden death! Ballinamore ultimately secured the victory after a brilliant penalty save from Shane McGirl—his second save of the shootout, on top of scoring one himself.
