A Board of Management is elected every three years for Ballinamore Community School. The Principal of the school acts as Secretary to the Board. Meetings take place as required – a minimum of one each term. Full training is provided for members of the Board who all act in a voluntary capacity and without remuneration.
The new Board comprises of:
- Six trustee representatives, three Religious, from the Diocese of Kilmore and three from Mayo, Sligo & Leitrim ETB
- Two parent representatives and
- Two teacher representatives.

Deed of Trust & Governance Principle:
The Board is constituted of nominees of trustees, staff and parents, but each member must act in the best interests of the school as a whole.
The Board, as a corporate body, is responsible for decisions. Decisions are made by the Board, not individual members.
The Board governs; the Principal manages the day-to-day operation of the school and remains accountable to the Board in carrying out those functions.
Board members exercise their authority collectively at properly convened Board meetings. Individual members do not have authority to act for the school outside the Board unless specifically authorised by the Board.
