Better together/ Níos Fearr Le Chéile

Day 2 of the Better Together /Níos Fearr Le Chéile cross-border project..
Today TYs met up with their counterparts from Enniskillen Royal Grammar School in their home patch. The ERGS students gave our TYs a great tour of Enniskillen Town, Enniskillen Castle and their school at the Portora site, overlooking the town. A great day in which the students got to see Enniskillen from the perspective of the locals and gained some insight into the trauma and tragedy that was visited on the town in the not so distant past. Afterwards, the group got to meet Olympic rower Ross Corrigan, who started his rowing career at the Enniskillen Royal Boat Club on the grounds of ERGS, despite being a student at another school in the town, St Michael’s College. (Ross has links with Ballinamore – his mother went to school here!) A really inspirational insight into the road to the Olympics for a local lad as well as the spartan lifestyle of a top athlete! This project will run over the course of the academic year and will look at the themes of Past, Present and Future on this shared Island of ours.
