Esras Films… Europe here we come!!

Ballinamore Post Primary Schools was approached by Esras Films shortly after Christmas to consider taking part in a comparative study of the Irish education system versus another European country’s education system; Finland, Spain or Poland.

The TY students were very enthusiastic to get involved. They had to complete an application form and record and upload a short video recording of themselves.

Last week, the school was delighted to hear that it is one of three schools from Ireland that have been chosen to travel on this once in a lifetime experience.

The trip will involve four TY students together with a teacher from Ballinamore PPS travelling to one of the above named countries (yet to be decide) for a ten day period in the last term. The lucky students will attend the local post primary school, board with local families and experience the social and cultural life of the particular country.

Esras film crew will accompany the group and will record a documentary of the student’s opinions and reflections on the education system, the cultural and social difference between Ireland and the chosen country.

Yesterday, February 22nd, Mairead Tucker, Esras Films producer travelled to Ballinamore to record an interview of all the TY students interested in participating in the comparative documentary, with the objective of choosing the four students who will travel.

Good luck to all those involved!!!

The documentary will air on RTE in Autumn 2012.
