Home Economics Field Trip (May 2017)

On Tuesday 16th May, 5th Year Home Economics students visited Rosderra Irish Meats in Stradone, Co.  Cavan. They got to see all the theory from their class in action in a meat processing factory situation. HACCP, how Bord Bia’s Origin Green Programme operates, meat processing/canning methods were just some of the topics explored. A big thank you to Aidan McGoldrick and his team who gave a very informative presentation to the group.

Biodiversity Workshop May 2017

2nd year Science and 5th year Biology and Agricultural Science classes participated in an interactive workshop with Nicola Winters (Green Sod Ireland) on 18th May 2017. Topics explored in the workshop included biodiversity and ecology. All of this linked in with our work for our Green Schools biodiversity theme and our Development Education (DE) programme focusing on the area of sustainability and climate action.
