TY’s visit Marble Arch Caves & Arigna Mines

Transition Year pupils visited the Marble Arch Caves and Arigna Mines on Tuesday 6th of May. This linked in with our studies on tourism as we got to see first hand how important tourism is for our local economy.

Our tour of the Marble Arch Caves provided lots of examples of the Karst features we had previously studied in class. Arigna Mines gave an excellent tour, telling us different facts about life in the mines years ago. Our tour guide Michael had worked there himself so he knew a lot and his information was very interesting. The day was enjoyed by all!
