Transition Year Home Economics Students went on a field trip which encompassed aspects of the Home Economics course on Thursday 22nd May. A visit to the local farmers market in Carrick on Shannon gave students the opportunity to meet local food producers and taste some delicious produce. Students then travelled to Knockvicar Organic Centre where they went on a garden tour learning all about the process of growing food organically. There is a wood fired oven outside in the garden area. Students made homemade pizzas using some ingredients purchased at the market and cooked their pizzas in the wood fired ovens outside.
