As part of a St. Vincent De Paul Project: “Youth for Justice”, T.Y students, went down to the Rehab Care Centre here in Ballinamore in groups of three every Tuesday and Thursday over recent weeks. We met Rosin O’Donohoe, who was our mentor each day. Roisin showed everyone around and introduced us to all the people there. We were shown their timetable and also got to see them taking part in the activities. Everyone enjoyed it and found it interesting. The whole class was very eager to return and make new friends with the users of Rehab Care. On the second visit, we went in groups of three and we got to join in with different activities. Some students went down to the sports complex for sport and games, while others joined in for demonstrations, such as flower-arranging. As a class, we felt the experience was very different but extremely beneficial. We felt that the users were just as happy to meet new people and do activities together.
