On Tuesday the 4th of March, local Manual Handling Instructor, Micheal O’ Dell came into the school to give a talk on Health and Safety and Back Care. He gave this talk to the Transition Year students. It was a very interesting and worthwhile talk as the students got to learn all about the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Legislation, Subordinate Legislation and Manual Handing Legislation.
Micheal also did a demonstration with the students on Back Care. Many people have sore backs and this has been caused by not doing things right. Micheal showed the students how exactly to lift a box or heavy container without hurting themselves. The students were glad to find out how to do this as it could be very helpful in the future.
