Ty and 5th Years French Language and Culture Exchange

Settling into French life…an account from Ava. Thanks to Mya for the 📸 🇫🇷

First Day in France:
On the first day, we arrived at the airport, tired after a long journey, but our excitement quickly took over. We hopped on the bus to head to Belmont, admiring the beautiful scenery along the way and chatting eagerly. Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly by our French host families at Saint Michael’s School. After a lovely indoor picnic, we spent time getting to know our new families. The principal gave a heartfelt welcome speech, setting a positive tone for the rest of our stay.
Later that day, we went home with our host families and began to immerse ourselves in French culture. Some of us had the chance to try local delicacies like pâté, venison, and even snails, which was a unique and exciting experience. We all enjoyed learning about French cuisine, the language, and the way of life, and spent the rest of the evening bonding with our new families.
A Day in Montpellier:
We had a wonderful day in Montpellier, starting with a visit to a beautiful museum filled with French paintings and captivating artwork. Afterward, we headed to the bustling shopping district. Some of us explored popular stores like Pull & Bear and Zara, while others ventured into local boutiques and souvenir shops.
For lunch, a few students decided to enjoy something familiar by going to McDonald’s, offering a taste of home. Others opted for cafés, indulging in croissants and hot chocolate. We all picked up gifts for ourselves and our families, from chocolates to stylish clothing.
Despite an eventful journey back, everything worked out in the end. It was an exciting day of culture, shopping, and new experiences
