Senior C Girls Football v Coola

Senior C Result 28/11/2023
Ballinamore CS 8:7
Coola PPS. 2:5
Ballinamore CS finished their Senior C group with a home win Vs Coola today 28/11/2023 in Ballinamore SOH.Playing with a slight breeze in the 1st half Ballinamore settled quickly and although conceding the first score, a point to Coola, they gradually took control of matters after a well taken early goal by Ella Van Der Laan who finished the game with a hat trick from full forward.
Ballinamore were ahead by 5:3 to 0:2 at half but knew that Coola would throw everything into the second half.
Coola got an early 1:1 at the start of the second half but Ballinamore reasserted control and strong defending along with quick counter attacks saw Ballinamore keep their ascendancy in a game that was alot closer in possession terms than the final score would suggest.Well done girls.
Romy Mc Allister made her debut in goals and was very composed with excellent kick outs throughout. Our defence as a unit was resolute throughout, superbly martialed by Full back Tess Maguire and centre back Dearbla Gunn.
Kate and Aoife Conefrey worked tirelessly in midfield on 2 much taller and stronger players and set up a strong platform for a Ballinamore victory.
Our forward unit pressed every lockout, got some great turn overs and moved the ball around very well throughout. Some great early ball into full forward Ella Van Der Laan was a constant thorn in Coola’s side and paid off handsomely on the score board.

Thanks to Ballinamore Sean O’Heslins GAA for the use of their facilities all year in Junior and Senior Ladies while St Felims is out of action due to on going construction.
Thanks to TP MC Loughlin for always been available and reffing all our home games to a very high standard all year.
We finished Senior C with 2 wins Vs Carrick CS and Coola PPS. We had 2 narrow defeats to St Claire’s Manorhamilton and Ursuline, Sligo but competed very well all year and gave a very good account of ourselves even though we didn’t qualify for the semi finals.
Finally, sincere best wishes to Ballinamore Sean O’Heslins Ladies GFA in the All Ireland Intermediate semi final on Saturday in Pairc Sean O Heslin. Best wishes to management, past pupils and in particular Lucy ( Murphy ) and Ella ( Van Der Laan ), current pupils, in the big game. Best of luck from Ballinamore CS.🤞
