This week we join with schools across Ireland in marking STAND UP week. We do this by celebrating the inclusivity and diversity within our school community and how it enriches our environment as we stand up against homophobic, biphobic and transphobic bullying. Last year we concentrated on remembering to use words that heal, not hurt and some of the posters remain around the school to remind us that this is always important. This year we are learning what it means to be an ally and to advocate for those in the LGBTQ+ community.
There is an information board in the canteen area and on it a collection of books which students can borrow, novels based around those in minority communities including LGBTQ+, People of Colour and migrants. On Friday we celebrate rainbow day and encourage everyone to dress in bright colours
