The Youth Fund – TYs award €1000 to Castlefore Development Association

Congratulations to Castlefore Development Association, who have been awarded €1000 by the TY group as part of their involvement in The Youth Fund, a project run in Association with Youth Work Ireland and supported by the European Union’s PEACE IV Programme, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB).

Marie and Geraldine from Castlefore Development Association were on site with us to recieve the funding, which will be used to build permanent BBQ facilities at Castlefore Amenity Area. No doubt, many students from Ballinamore CS will benefit from the amenity in the years to come.

Lots of great work all year by the TY group, under the excellent supervision of Catherine McLoughlin from Youth Work Ireland led to the group being able to tender for applications for funds of €1000 from local groups that work with/for young people. This was followed by an interview process, where the TY students interviewed each of the applicants, culminating in the award of funds to Castlefore Development Association.

Sincere thanks also to the other local groups who submitted very worthy applications, and made The Youth Fund Experience a great success for our students. The TYs would have loved to be able to offer funds to each applicant.

This has been a really worthwhile experience for the group, with each student learning so much from the process. They have gained valuable experience and confidence and dealt admirably with the responsibilities they were given.
