French Exchange

Day 1: On Wednesday, our TY students set off for Lyon bright and early with Mr Keeney and Miss Stenson. After a long day travelling, the students received a great welcome from the staff and students at Les Iris and met their host families for the first time.

Day 2: A very busy day at school with Language games in English and Italian, Art Class, work on travel journals and a badminton tournament in PE. A lot of talent and sporting spirit shown!

Days 3, 4 and 5: On Friday we started the day with Spanish class then  went to meet the primary school students. Afterwards, we visited the chocolaterie and learned how they make chocolate in France and bought a few snacks.

For the weekend we all did different activities with our correspondents’ families but we met up on Sunday to play lazer tag.

Days 6 and 7

On Monday we visited La Basilique Notre Dame de Fourvière and then the Roman theatre, where we ate lunch and then we rode the Ferris wheel.

Today we visited the primary school, displayed our immense singing talents to the primary school children with a rousing performance of Ireland’s Call. afterwards,  we visited the Musée de Confluences.

Days 8 and 9

Everyone is now home safe and sound and reflecting on what was a fantastic experience in Lyon. We experienced so much about the language and culture of Lyon. It has been an unforgettable trip. On Wednesday, we had a guided tour of the Gratte Ciel district, with it’s Art Deco architecture. On Thursday, we set off for home following a lovely send-off from our hosts. Thanks to the staff and students at Les Iris school in Villeurbanne, Lyon. A huge thanks also to Mr Keeney for organising the exchange and to Ms Stenson and Mr Keeney for accompanying the students on the trip.
