French Students from Lycée De Ressins visit Ballinamore

Wednesday 22nd March: 26 French students accompanied by Ms Severine Briday and Ms Dominique Frankwoski arrive in Ballinamore Community school. They are reunited with their Irish pen pals are settle into their Irish homes.
Thursday 23rd March; after is an official welcome by our Principal Mr Leyden. A tour of our school follows this. At 10am the French students attend Ms Earley’s class to prepare for their English language activity in Ballinamore. In the afternoon, we have French conversation with our 5th and 6th year students.

Friday 24th March: 9am – 11am there is a French Irish quiz followed by 3 classes of cooking with Ms Cooney. The French students make home-made lemonade, fresh scones and chocolate and strawberry twirls. Ms Severine Briday and Mr Cunnane visit Ms O’Dell and Ms Bohan’s classes in the National School.
The weekend: throughout the weekend the French Students are entertained with visits to The Boda Borg in Lough Key, some go Cannoning, others visit Pol an Eas, Aughnasheelin etc.

Monday 27th March: the French students visit Sligo, with beautiful sunshine they walk on the beach at Strand hill, climb the sand dunes and have coffee in a local Café. Later they visit Sligo town.

Tuesday 28th March. Ms Stenson organised sports in the morning, the French try their hand at hurling and Pella. After coffee break the French students attend classes. Geography, Irish, French, History and Woodwork.
After lunch, thanks to Ms Ni Mháille, the French were taught some Irish dancing. Later, Ms Madden held a prayer service for the 52 students involved in the exchange.
Wednesday 29th March: at 8am we waved goodbye to our French Friends as they departed for home.
