2nd Year Religion Trip

As part of their religious studies 2nd year students along with their teachers Ms. Clarke and Ms. Cooney visited the newly refurbished Cathedral in Longford on Friday 8th May. Students got a tour of the cathedral and learned some interesting facts from Fr. Tony Gilhooly. We were delighted to meet Bishop Francis Duffy in the Cathedral also where he chatted with us about his time working in Ballinamore and about the work he is doing now as Bishop of Ardagh and Clonmacnois.

Students then visited the Islamic Centre where the Imam Dr. Syed Ali met with us before the prayer service. Studying different religions is part of the RE syllabus and students are currently completing a project on Islam as part of their Junior Certificate coursework so observing the prayer service and chatting with the members after the service gave students a great insight into other beliefs and religions. IMG_6440[1]
