Connacht Schools Athletics

On Wednesday February 20th Miss Ní Mháille and nine students travelled to represent our school in the Connacht Cross-Country finals. Sunny conditions showered the athletes on a beautiful day and it must be said, that the course itself was in excellent condition.  All the athletes positioned well, especially our trio of first year athletes Breedge Mc Govern, Oisín Mc Loughlin and Ríordan O’ Rourke who will be hoping to better their respective positions and qualify for the All Irelands in 2014. Ryan O’ Rourke, Jack Gilheaney and Seán Keegan were unlucky to narrowly miss out on top fifteen positions to qualify. Éilis O’ Dowd finished ahead of her team mates Gráinne Griffin and Carla Le Guen to take Ballinamore’s only qualifying position for the All-Ireland Cross Country finals in Ulser University Jordanstown on Saturday March 9th. Well done to all who competed, best wishes to Éilish in Jordanstown in two weeks!
